CMFA is excited to welcome Coach Colleen to our association! She will be our Pitching development coach for the remainder of this year and next year.
Colleen is a passionate and enthusiastic pitcher and pitching instructor, just getting her roots established in BC. She grew up in a small town in Southwestern Ontario, playing softball since she was 5 and starting to pitch when she was 10. She still pitches today, joining the Chilliwack Valleycats women’s fastball team for the 2022 season.
She attended Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY (D3 junior college) to pitch for their softball team 2008-2010.
She returned to Ontario to build her farm market business, and got involved with coaching pitchers through supporting a few local instructors and volunteering with her community ball association.
She has 10+ years of experience coaching 1-on-1 and assisting in small group pitching sessions. Most of her experience comes in supporting new pitchers to learn the foundational mechanics, as well as coaching them through consistency and accuracy, and working towards speed and power. She has experience coaching movement and change of speed pitches as well, focusing on a solid change up and building in a drop ball, curve and rise.
Her philosophy focuses on building a strong base of fundamental mechanics first, building on that to see consistency and accuracy, and then building on that for speed, power, and movement pitches. She also focuses on supporting athletes to build confidence, presence and emotional balance during practice, on the mound and in the dugout as a key part of their success.
We are super excited to kick off pitching clinics next week with coach Colleen and support the development of our pitchers!
Welcome to the CMFA family Colleen!
